One of the most disturbing things to have happen is to wake up with a new set of sleep wrinkles around your eyes. You look like you haven’t slept for a month while at the same time you just enjoyed a restful eight hours of sleep. Why do you look so tired when you feel so energetic? Most of it lies with your sleeping habits and there are things that you can do to prevent this problem from occurring.

One thing that will help reduce these wrinkles is a good sleep mask. A lot of these wrinkles develop from resting your head against your pillow. The weight of your head will push your eyes into the pillow and make them wrinkle up overnight. When you wear a sleep mask, your eyes won’t be pressed into the pillow. They will be resting against a smooth surface inside the sleep mask.

If you tend to sleep on your side or your stomach, try sleeping on your back for a few nights to see if this clears up the problem as well. Some people won’t be able to change their sleeping position very easily, and for those individuals a mask or special moisturizers can help.

Look for specialized natural eye moisturizers that you can apply before bedtime and leave on during your sleep. These will prevent those awful sleep wrinkles from developing. If you find that the one you’re using isn’t working, it may be absorbing too quickly to be effective. Look for an eye moisturizer that takes a long time to absorb and apply it liberally before bedtime. Sometimes you’ll need a lot of cream applied to help stop these wrinkles in their tracks.

If you do choose the moisturizing route, you’ll have to be prepared to wash your pillowcase quite often. Choose a moisturizer that’s not too oily so that it can easily come off your pillowcase in the washing machine. Also, try to slowly adjust your sleeping habits so that at least some of your time in dreamland is spent on your back.

During the day you can apply anti-aging masks that use natural ingredients such as banana, papaya, strawberry, coconut oil or safflower oil. This will help hydrate your skin further to help prevent sleep wrinkles around your eyes.

You don’t have to put up with horrible sleep wrinkles around your eyes any longer if you follow these preventative measures. Use a sleep mask , moisturizer or change your sleeping habits to look wide awake again after a good night’s sleep.
